Genetic
Counseling is a very important part of prenatal diagnosis. It is
necessary in order to obtain the family history, review in detail the process of prenatal
diagnosis, discuss the benefits, risks, and limitations of testing for the couple's
specific concern, and finally, to obtain informed consent for the procedure if the couple
feels the study is appropriate for them. Some couples may wish to have genetic
counseling prior to conceiving if they have particular concerns about their family
history. |
